A chlorine shower filter may be one of the best investments you can make to protect your health. Your entire body is affected by showering in chlorinated water, and these effects accumulate over time. They can be insidious, so you do not even realize what is happening until later. There are many things to be aware of about bathing and showering in tap water.
Most people no longer even think of tap water as something to drink. The taste and smell is overwhelmingly of chlorine, because so much is added to kill potential bacteria. To drink tap water is not far from pouring a glass of bleach that has been diluted.
But showering in tap water is something many people do without thinking twice. But chlorine becomes gas at lower temperatures than water does. This means that the concentration of chlorine in a steamy shower is even higher.
When we take a hot shower, our pores open up more because of the heat. And we are absorbing all of that chlorine into our pores and into our blood stream. You are also breathing the toxin into your lungs. Basically, you are taking far more chlorine into your system in a shower than you possibly could by drinking tap water. Scientific research is now confirming that showering in chlorinated water is toxic and can result in various dangers to your health.
There are a variety of different types of chlorine shower filters on the market. The old style filter is usually charcoal based. It filters out some of the chlorine but is generally unable to filter out all of it. It can also become a breeding ground for bacteria which will then become part of your shower water.
There is a new technology out on the market is called KDF and it is a media that filters out several elements including chlorine and heavy metals. It does this by using ionic charge to remove the chlorine from the water. It is able to remove approximately 99% of the chlorine. Additionally, bacteria cannot form in this media.
With either kind of shower filter, most styles are the type that has replaceable filters. You will know it is time to replace your filter when the smell of chlorine is very strong. How often that will be is going to depend on the number of people using it, how often showers are taken and for how long.
An additional thing to look at when deciding on a shower filter is the physical design of it. Some shower filters are meant to be attached at the end of the pipe, sometimes between the pipe and the shower head. The result is less room to stand underneath. Others have the filtration unit above or at the side so less room is taken up.
It will probably take some time to research available chlorine shower filters but there is definitely one that will meet both your needs and your budget. But do not make your choice based on price alone, or even design. How effective it is at filtering is the single most important thing on which to base your choice.
Save yourself and your family from ingesting and inhaling hazardous chemicals-get a shower water filter to give your family clean water. A chlorine shower filter will keep your family from harmful chlorine! Make the logical choice today that could save your life!
