Along with softening your water, you may consider adding water purification and more functions to your water treatment system. Utah water softener providers offer a large range of water treatment services. However, you may need to do more than counter act the negative effects of hard water.

A lot of things can cause problems with your water. There may be contaminates in the area, or some corrosion or some iron might be getting into the pipes. There is even a chance that you will need different treatment systems your laundry room and kitchen if something is wrong with those pipes. A Utah water softener professional will help you analyze your water and figure out what your best treatment options are to improve your water supply.

There are four major types of water softeners available, and you should take the time to analyze the benefits and drawbacks of each. Your personal circumstances can go a long way to determine which one you should get. For example, if you are avoiding salt because of high blood pressure, you should go with the salt-free water softener. These employ nanotech components to remove the calcium scale and prevent it from building up again.

There is also a salt-based ion exchange system that uses less salt than previously, but still uses the exchange method to remove calcium and magnesium from the water. What this means is that positively charged sodium ions are exchanged with the calcium and magnesium and then are bonded to an exchange medium. This way the exchange medium will be recharged with the salt ions so it can be used again.

All these methods are fairly complex, but your Utah water softener company will likely be able to give you more information on how these two systems work.

A third common water softener is the reverse osmosis systems. These systems use an ultra-fine filtration system that employs a semi-permeable membrane instead of chemicals to remove the impurities in the water and sweep them down the drain. It should be noted that these systems can waste a lot of water, and it could also strip out a lot of the essential minerals as well.

The last type of water softener is the magnetic water softener that claims to function by magnetically causing carbonate salts to precipitate into small molecules that can’t form scale and adhere to pipes. Its benefits are not yet proven. Again, ask your Utah water softener experts for information and advice.

Once you’ve decided on the type of water softener you can then start adding in some other treatment options. This could include: water purification, bacterial removal, carbon filtration, desalination, chlorine handling equipment, and much more. There are benefits and drawbacks to each of these systems, so be sure you consult with a Utah water softener specialist to find the ones that are best for you.
