Death of a family member is a shocking experience, which can make the funeral arrangements emotionally difficult. But like most disturbing things in life, it must be dealt with, and you will need to make some arrangements for the funeral service. Almost all funeral homes provide their services related to making funeral arrangements and they can provide you assistance, but you must keep in mind a few things.

A funeral should reveal how the deceased lived his life and it should be conducted in a suitable manner. There is a standard pattern which most funeral services stick to, and any deviation would normally depend on particular religious and cultural inclinations of the deceased and his or her family.

The first stage is the visitation, which can take place over a few hours or could stretch for a few days. In this ceremony, the family and acquaintances gather to revive memories of their loved one. Then come the standard funeral services, which can be held in a chapel, a mortuary, a church or any other place that can serve as an appropriate memorial for the dead person. A hearse or funeral coach would need to be booked if the funeral is to be held in an outdoor venue.

Once this is over, the family and others move to the cemetery for the next stage of the funeral. This can be managed by either a relative of the deceased or a priest based on the decision of the family. You will need to consider various aspects, including who will lead the service, the type of flowers you want, and if you want an image or any other items owned by the deceased to be exhibited.

The final part of the proceedings is the burial of the body in a location, which is usually based on the type of tradition that the family has. The burial site can be anything from a plot on family land to a graveyard, or the body can even be cremated if the deceased wished so.
