Is there really a good cause to use a shower filter? Filters are used on faucets for tap water, but why would you want or nee one in your shower? It is vital for your drinking water faucet and your shower to include a filter. The drawbacks of not having a filter for your drinking water can cause perminate damage to your brain with all of the microorganisms contained in it; showers really need one also to shield your skin from chaffing and hair becoming so dry to the point it may break.

Many people do not realize just how much chlorine and other chemicals that you breathe during just a quick 10 minute shower. Above a certain temperature, water produces steam that is inhaled, and since this steam holds all of the chemicals in the water, you may be inhaling volatile compounds contained in the water, such as chloroform, pesticides, chlorofluorocarbons, and of course, chloride, as much as if you were drinking them. During a warm shower, the pores of your skin open up which results in the absorption of VOC’s and chlorine, the chemical responsible for the dehydrating effect on skin and hair.

So what happens? How do filters keep harmful chemicals from being inhaled or affecting the skin? By using a filter, you filter out chemicals that are in KDF (kinetic degradation fluxion), which is a condition where harmful chemicals are shaped by ion binding copper media. Removal of the chemicals happens when the water passes through the media the metals in KDF create a galvanic reaction that causes the chlorine to combine with zinc ions which creates zinc chloride, a harmless chemical. Kinetic degradation fluxion helps with the removal of hazardous metals from lead, copper and mercury.

The price of the shower filter depends on whether it has only KDF or both KDF and carbon. KDF containing filters are the least costly, they only have the ability to remove chlorine. If you want to get rid of all chemicals in your water, you must buy a filter that has both KDF and carbon. Filters containing multi function features are available at a higher cost. You can revive your skin and hair with these filters because they have magnets and stimulating materials in them.

If you purchase a filter, keep in mind that they have to be changed once a year. This could potentially be two times a year if you commonlusually take long showers or have more than one person using the shower, or if your water is heavy in sediments. In general, shower filters are beneficial to your body’s health. By getting rid of the dangerous chemicals in your water you can prevent these destructive toxins from damaging your hair and skin, and worse entering your body. Depending on how much you are going to spend on a shower filter will depend on what abilities it will possess; many types of filters are sold to meet the needs of the consumer. Happy searching!
