As a parent, you will want the best for your child. You want them to grow up and develop into a healthy, strong and independent individual; to establish themselves in a forward moving career and have a family. Also, you will find that many youngsters will play and become hyper and distracted on some occasions, which is considered part of growing up. However, you may be a parent who has a child who is overly hyper and becomes confused or distracted, thus you may find that they have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD.

On the market there are many different medicines and therapies which are available to help children with this type of condition. But, there are also other ways to help children with ADHD – some foods will help children combat their ADHD, whilst other should be limited or avoided. Knowing about these different foods will be good, as you will be able to help your child deal with this disorder and their future.

When looking at ADHD in children, there have been a number of studies that have been carried out to investigate the causes of ADHD in children. The findings from these have shown that this could be as a result of an individual’s diet and certain deficiencies in particular vitamins and minerals. Some of these do include omega 3 fatty acids, Vitamin C, zinc, and iron.

Not getting enough Omega 3 fatty acids has been linked to some symptoms of ADHD and some children with ADHD show other symptoms of an Omega 3 fatty acid deficiency such as dry skin and hair, thirst, and frequent urination. Some studies have shown that children with ADHD that were given fish oil supplements shown some improvements.

Additionally, there have been a number of other studies finding children who have ADHD can develop further allergies to foods and lose vitamins because of being allergic to certain foods. Also, you may find that your child may be allergic to food dye if they have ADHD, as some studies have shown when foods containing such dyes were taken away, a child with adhd improved.

As a parent who has a child with ADHD, you should make sure that they only eat the correct foods and help them stay away from food additives and potentially allergic ones too. If you do this then you will help improve their symptoms and make them less hyperactive. Giving them Vitamin C supplements will also help improve their symptoms. And, you should continue to consult a doctor about any further concerns, medicines and for a regular check-up.

Many people also believe in the importance of the correct type and quantity for children with ADHD, so they can live healthier in life, but also because certain vitamins and minerals could cause ADHD symptoms to become worse. Which is the sole reason you should monitor what your child eats and that they eat a healthy and balanced diet – as well as complete regular exercise. Resulting in a child with ADHD being healthier and happier in the long term.
